PRESS RELEASE: FRANCZYK CALLS FOR MORE DEMOLITION MONEY

Buffalo – Buffalo Common Council President David A. Franczyk said that the presence of thousands of blighted, dilapidated properties scarring many city neighborhoods embarrasses Buffalo in the eyes of the world, and can only be finally addressed with special aid from the area’s federal and state elected officials.

“Despite tearing down almost 4,500 dilapidated slum buildings in the last decade, there are thousands more to come down and we simply don’t have the money to do the job properly,” Franczyk observed.

In a resolution before the Common Council, Franczyk points out that the city does not have the resources to pay for the thousands of rotting, deteriorating, vacant properties currently eligible for demolition.
