Dear Friend of Corpus Christi,<\/p>\n
Have we met?<\/p>\n
Let me introduce myself.\u00a0 My name is Joseph Przeciszewski and I am a life-long parishioner at Corpus Christi Parish.\u00a0 You may not know me by name, but maybe we would recognize\u00a0each other at the 8:15a.m. Mass on Sunday mornings (or the 5:30p.m. Mass during inclement weather).\u00a0\u00a0Possibly\u00a0we have seen\u00a0each other\u00a0during the Corpus Christi Procession or perhaps\u00a0shared a table\u00a0at the Dozynki Festival or another parish event.\u00a0 Whether or not we know each other by name, or even by appearance, one thing is certain –\u00a0that we share a connection\u00a0with Corpus Christi Church.<\/p>\n
My family’s history with Corpus Christi dates to my father’s birth and baptism in 1925.\u00a0\u00a0Both of my parents attended the parish’s grammar school, received the sacraments of Penance, First Communion and Confirmation, and were married\u00a0at Corpus Christi.\u00a0 My parents loved this parish, and were active volunteers. My dad regularly donated his talents for electrical repairs, carpentry and other projects for the church complex.\u00a0\u00a0Mom sewed vestments for the altar boys and for the Infant of Prague statue in the church.\u00a0\u00a0Their commitment to the parish was so steadfast, that our family was given a Papal Blessing from Pope Pius XII.\u00a0 It will come as no surprise that my sister and I were also active in the parish.\u00a0 I served as an altar boy and even performed on\u00a0the Fr. Justin Radio Hour as a member of the school choir.\u00a0 What a thrilling adventure it was to take\u00a0the train out to Athol Springs and sing on a live broadcast!<\/p>\n
That is just a part of my story – just one of the thousands of family histories that make this church special and valued and worth saving.\u00a0\u00a0 What is your<\/span> story?<\/p>\n All these years later, I am still a parishioner at Corpus Christi – it is a part of who I am.\u00a0 To this day, it continues to be a place of deep spirituality and inspiration, and I still marvel at the Disput\u00e0 mural and the stained glass windows that I know so well.\u00a0\u00a0Looking back, I realize something that my parents understood\u00a0even during the parish’s\u00a0“glory days”; that Corpus Christi’s\u00a0existence and its continued survival are not an accident, but rather a blessing from God and\u00a0the result\u00a0of the passion, hard work and support of generations of individuals who\u00a0cherish this holy place under His watchful eye.\u00a0 That is why I contribute to Corpus Christi – because I know that its continued survival depends, in part,\u00a0on me.<\/p>\n What does Corpus Christi mean to you?\u00a0 Would you feel a sense of loss if it closed its doors, if it became just another boarded up building?<\/p>\n Our church’s\u00a0current\u00a0preservation projects\u00a0are to repair and restore\u00a0the north bell tower and to rebuild the drainage system around the church foundation.\u00a0 \u00a0We must raise $162,000 to match a large New York State grant for this critical work to begin. \u00a0I will help and I hope you\u00a0will too, by giving\u00a0generously to this year’s\u00a0Spring Appeal.<\/p>\n Happy Easter, and here’s hoping that we meet each other\u00a0soon.<\/p>\n Best Wishes, [Click to download donation card – pdf<\/a>]<\/p>\n
