(Michael Mroziak \u2022 Wed, Oct 05, 2011) Western New York is preparing to host thousands of visitors who will come to see some of the Buffalo area\u2019s historic and cultural gems. Corpus Christi Church, one of local Polonia\u2019s cherished sites, will be among those on the schedule.<\/p>\n

Beginning Wed., Oct. 19, Buffalo is hosting the National Preservation Conference, sponsored by the Washington D.C. based National Trust for Historic Preservation. The four-day event is the organization\u2019s 65th annual conference but the first to be hosted in Buffalo.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel that this conference is like Buffalo\u2019s debutante party,\u201d said Chuck LaChiusa, chairman of the Sacred Spaces Reborn bus tour that will be conducted as part of the conference. \u201cBuffalo is being introduced to the country in terms of its great Victorian and early 20th century architecture.\u201d<\/p>\n

Visitors will have a lot of local architectural beauty on which to feast their eyes. It\u2019s not just about the beauty preserved at these sites. More importantly, visitors will learn lessons about how many of these buildings remain relevant.<\/p>\n
