{"id":8803,"date":"2011-10-05T12:33:30","date_gmt":"2011-10-05T16:33:30","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/broadwayfillmorealive.org\/2.0\/?p=8803"},"modified":"2012-11-08T09:18:37","modified_gmt":"2012-11-08T14:18:37","slug":"second-sundays-in-broadway-fillmore","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/broadwayfillmorealive.org\/2.0\/2011\/10\/second-sundays-in-broadway-fillmore\/","title":{"rendered":"Second Sundays in Broadway-Fillmore"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[singlepic id=1949 w=440 h=314 float=](click on image for full view)<\/p>\n<p>Over the years, I have heard many people tell their tales about how sad they are about places in the neighborhood that have closed or have been torn down, etc.<\/p>\n<p>Each of us though has an opportunity to make a difference in the future of B-F&#8217;s treasures. \u00a0It is as simple as supporting them more.<\/p>\n<p>While I have been contemplating the recent merger of Saint Adalbert Basilica and Saint John Kanty and how it has left the basilica essentially quiet every Sunday now, I came up with the idea of <em>Second Sundays in Broadway-Fillmore<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The idea is simple enough&#8230;come to church at one of B-F&#8217;s historic and beautiful churches every second Sunday of a month during the course of the year.<\/p>\n<p>As anyone at any of the churches will tell you, we need more people to attend.<\/p>\n<p>If you want to see these glorious embodiment of faith saved, support them regularly.<\/p>\n<p>I hope I am not sounding too preachy.<\/p>\n<p>The effort here is to help sustain these churches for future generations.<\/p>\n<p>Far too often in Buffalo&#8217;s history we have let our history be relegated to &#8220;I wish this place or that place was still round&#8221;
