{"id":8771,"date":"2011-09-30T14:08:02","date_gmt":"2011-09-30T18:08:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/broadwayfillmorealive.org\/2.0\/?p=8771"},"modified":"2011-09-30T14:08:02","modified_gmt":"2011-09-30T18:08:02","slug":"introducing-squeezefest-saint-stans","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/broadwayfillmorealive.org\/2.0\/2011\/09\/introducing-squeezefest-saint-stans\/","title":{"rendered":"Introducing Squeezefest @ Saint Stan&#8217;s"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>[singlepic id=1938 w=400 h=400 mode=web20 float=](click on image for full view)<\/p>\n<p><strong>INTRODUCING SQUEEZEFEST IN HISTORIC POLONIA<\/strong><br \/>\n<em><strong>An Authentic 1960s Eastside Polka Party to Feature Members of the Polka Hall of Fame<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>BUFFALO, N.Y. &#8211; A rare performance by Polka Hall of Fame musicians will provide a vintage soundtrack for the first ever St. Stan\u2019s Polka \u201cSqueezefest.\u201d Squeezefest will take place on Saturday, October 15, 2011, 5p-11p, at St. Stanislaus Church\u2019s Social Center, 389 Peckham Street at Fillmore Avenue, Polonia District, Buffalo.<\/p>\n<p>The nationally touring polka ensemble Full Circle will feature four members of the Polka Hall of Fame, Lenny Gomulka, Al Piatkowski, Jimmy Weber, Mike Matousek and polka veterans Mike Stapinski &amp; Roger Malinowski. In 2009 after years of leading their own bands, Full Circle came together to recreate historic polka sounds of the 50s, 60s &amp; 70s. SqueezeFest will also feature The Buffalo Concertina All Stars for an evening of non-stop polka fun.<\/p>\n<p>Fans of \u201cauthenticity\u201d will enjoy colorful polka dancing, Polish food, beer and spirits inside a cool 1960\u2018s social center located in one of Buffalo&#8217;s most storied neighborhoods. Promotional support is being provided by Genesee Beer.<\/p>\n<p>Squeezefest will take place at the start of community-wide activities surrounding the National Trust for Historic Preservation\u2019s 2011 National Preservation Conference. SqueezeFest organizers invite out-of-town guests and Western New Yorkers to this Buffalo ethnic experience in a historic setting.<\/p>\n<p>Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Centered two miles from Buffalo\u2019s Downtown core, The Historic Polonia District is home to an unique collection of cultural, ethnic and architectural landmarks. Heritage sites include The Broadway Public Market, St. Stanislaus Bishop &amp; Martyr Church, St. Adalbert&#8217;s Basilica, Corpus Christi Church, Buffalo Central Terminal, The Adam Mickiewicz Library and Dramatic Circle and a number of friendly, family owned Polish taverns.<\/p>\n<p>Founded in 1873, St. Stanislaus Bishop &amp; Martyr Church is regarded as the \u201cMother Church of Buffalo Polonia.\u201d It was established to serve the spiritual needs and offer temporal guidance to what was once the second largest Polish-American colony in North America. The parish has the distinction of being the oldest Polish parish in the Diocese of Buffalo and is the oldest in New York State.
