I attended a prayer vigil for Sr. Karen Klimczak on Friday evening outside of the Bissonnette House on Grider Street in a park created by Sr. Karen called Peace Park.\u00a0 To be perfectly honest, I never met her.\u00a0 But like most people this past week, I became familiar with her life and what she accomplished.<\/p>\n

What always amazes me about people like Sr. Klimczak is that\u00a0their valuable work virtually goes\u00a0un-noticed in the public eye\u2026people that don\u2019t seek the accolades or applause for what they are doing.\u00a0 They just do it because they feel something inside\u00a0pushing them to help others.<\/p>\n

Listening to all the speakers at the vigil, you could just feel the impact she had on many lives.\u00a0Sr. Karen\u00a0was a part of the fabric of Buffalo\u2019s East Side community\u2026an example\u00a0to\u00a0us all\u00a0about what making a difference\u00a0really is.<\/p>\n

If anything good comes out of this tragedy, it will teach people both the importance of getting involved in your community and how violence in our communities impacts all of us.<\/p>\n
