Buffalo and the neighborhood has changed a lot since Saint Adalbert\u2019s first opened its doors, but the church has stood strong through it all.<\/p>\n<p>Too many times in Buffalo\u2019s history we have seen important pieces of our past fade away.  Saint Adalbert\u2019s isn\u2019t closing because no one goes to the church anymore or because the building is in disrepair.  It is going to be closed because the Buffalo Diocese says it should.  <\/p>\n<p>The Vatican has declared that Saint Adalbert Basilica should remain open as a place of worship.  The Diocese believes limiting it to weddings, funerals or special Masses fits the Vatican\u2019s ruling.  What it does in reality is limits Saint Adalbert\u2019s ability to function in a manner where it can survive fiscally. It puts the basilica on a path where the Diocese can come back in a year or so and say it isn\u2019t financially viable and lead to full closure.
