(By Christina Abt) Her name is Geraldine Wierzbicki-Roach.\u00a0 She is a 70-year young, native Buffaloian of Polish descent.\u00a0 As a child, Geraldine\u2019s grandmother and aunt took her to the Broadway Market.\u00a0 She recalls loving the sights and sounds of the east side shopping mecca.\u00a0 However once married with a family of her own, Geraldine\u2019s market days became part of her past.\u00a0 It was only upon publishing her first book, a novel tied to her close relationship with her Polish grandfather, that Geraldine returned to the market.\u00a0 Her purpose was to sell books during the prime Easter Season. \u00a0And while the local author accomplished her book selling goal, she also realized the true value of the Broadway Market\u2014a realization she wrote about in this essay, where she describes her impressions of \u201ca Buffalo heirloom.\u201d<\/p>\n
