\u00a0Have you received a lot support and how will it impact the farm?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>JS:\u00a0Last year we had four CSA members who graciously allowed us to experiment on them.\u00a0 We really like the CSA model because all the produce picked for share members goes directly to them with no waste, and because it\u00a0helps create\u00a0community.\u00a0 This year we made an appeal for a core group of CSA members who would commit to not only buying a CSA share, but also to meeting regularly to\u00a0 brainstorm ways in which to move forward the vision of the farm.\u00a0 We are having our first meeting with the core group\u00a0on Thursday\u00a0and are excited about getting\u00a0input from others with diverse talents.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>BFA:\u00a0What type of obstacles do you still face?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>JS:\u00a0Our toughest obstacle continues to be obtaining large quantities of\u00a0compost to restore the soil for a reasonable outlay of money.\u00a0 Trucking is expensive.\u00a0Our greatest challenge is to provide farm produce to our lower-income neighbors at a price they can afford while still keeping the farm economically sustainable.\u00a0Our\u00a0unexpected challenge is to know when to say yes and when to politely decline the many invitations for publicity.\u00a0 Exposure is good but could lead to burnout. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>BFA:\u00a0If people are interested in getting involved with the Wilson Street farm, how can they do it?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>JS:\u00a0People interested in getting involved with the farm can keep track of our blog (<a href=\"http:\/\/wilsonstreeturbanfarm.wordpress.com\/\">http:\/\/wilsonstreeturbanfarm.wordpress.com\/<\/a>)\u00a0and\/or <a href=\"http:\/\/www.facebook.com\/group.php?gid=68083902625\">announcements on\u00a0Facebook<\/a>.\u00a0 We will again this year have one volunteer day a month.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Thank you to Janice and Mark Stevens\u2026they truly help keep the neighborhood ALIVE!!!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Janice Stevens of the Wilson Street Urban Farm was kind enough to answer some questions I sent her way.
