Yes, 40+ years before the Mercedes SLK, Volvo C70 and VW Eos aluminum\u00a0retractable hardtops of today, Ford attempted its own version for the 1957 through 1959 full size Skyliners\u00a0using the\u00a0heavy gauge Detroit steel used at that time.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=Helvetica size=2>These cars are pretty rare these days, as the owners of the past got tired of replacing the motors that powered the extremely heavy roof and rear deck lid, and allowed them to rot in junk yards.
