{"id":7188,"date":"2011-01-30T01:47:10","date_gmt":"2011-01-30T06:47:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/broadwayfillmorealive.org\/2.0\/?p=7188"},"modified":"2011-01-30T13:49:37","modified_gmt":"2011-01-30T18:49:37","slug":"saint-adalbert-thoughts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/broadwayfillmorealive.org\/2.0\/2011\/01\/saint-adalbert-thoughts\/","title":{"rendered":"Saint Adalbert thoughts&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><object width=\"370\" height=\"302\"><param name=\"movie\" value=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/v\/U1ih3wb4Ohs?fs=1&amp;hl=en_US&amp;rel=0\"><\/param><param name=\"allowFullScreen\" value=\"true\"><\/param><param name=\"allowscriptaccess\" value=\"always\"><\/param><\/object><\/p>\n<p>It is easy for us to point our fingers at the Buffalo Diocese&#8230;it is easy for us to blame the neighborhood&#8230;it is easy to blame a lot of things except ourselves.<\/p>\n<p>The bottom line is that we let this happen time and time again.<\/p>\n<p>Maybe I am off base with what I about to say, but this is where I am at tonight.<\/p>\n<p>The Polish American community shoulders a lot of the blame for letting a large part of our physical history here in B-F simply fade away.<\/p>\n<p>Saint Adalbert Basilica is in now danger of joining the long list of places that WNY&#8217;s Polish American community has let disappear.<\/p>\n<p>For as much as we cherish our Polish ancestry, an equal part of a lot of our pasts are intertwined with our Polish American past here in Broadway-Fillmore.  The Polish immigrant culture in our collective history who built this neighborhood&#8230;built places like Saint Adalbert&#8217;s should be honored differently.  We should be ashamed at what we have allowed to happen.<\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t get me wrong, there are a lot of people who recognize the importance of our history here in B-F.
