Join members of the St. Stanislaus Athletic Club and Dyngus Day Buffalo this Friday for their inaugural Polish Happy Hour! This free event is scheduled for Friday, January 21, 2011, 5:30-8:30pm at the AC\u2019s clubrooms located inside the Monsignor Adamski Social Center, 289 Peckham Street, Buffalo (enter on Wilson Street side of building).<\/p>\n

Organize welcome everyone to network and reconnect as they enjoy authentic Polish products like Tyskie Polish Beer, Sobieski Polish Vodka and the traditional Polish honey liqueur Krupnik. Participants can also learn how to become members of the St. Stan\u2019s Athletic Club and about preservation plans for sites in and around the Broadway-Fillmore neighborhood.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is a great opportunity for anyone in the general public to discover this unique and historic club,\u201d said Athletic Club Manager Len Hoeglmeier. \u201cYoung Polish-Americans are especially welcomed to meet others who have an interest in their heritage, language and to share Polish pride.\u201d

\nIn 1921, Rev. Alexander Pitass organized the St. Stan\u2019s Athletic Club with the goal of bring together the Polish Catholic youth of the parish and protecting them from the dangers of \u201cevil places and immoral companionship.\u201d In addition to lectures about religious and national affairs, the Club provided supervised amusement including baseball, basketball, bowling and gymnastics. The first clubrooms of the organization were located on the second floor of a building at Wilson and Peckham. In 1945, at the cost of $13,000, the clubrooms were redecorated. In 1959, the old \u201cCzerwona Kamienica\u201d was scheduled for demolition. The AC would find temporary quarters in the Moniuszko Singing Society Clubrooms on Fillmore until the new Parish Social Center was completed. In the summer of 1960, the club moved to its present location on the second floor of the Monsignor Adamski Social Center.<\/p>\n

This event is being sponsored by Dyngus Day Buffalo. Dyngus Day Buffalo is the provider of marketing and organizational support to area Dyngus Day celebrations. Dyngus Day 2011 will take place on Monday, April 25th.<\/p>\n
