For the third time in as many years, the Broadway Market will be looking for someone to run the Fillmore District landmark.<\/p>\n

With the cu\"\"rrent contract of the market\u2019s executive director, Tom Kerr, due to expire at the end of September, the City of Buffalo has officially posted the job as it begins it search for new candidates. Candidates have until Sept. 17 to apply.<\/p>\n

Kerr, a former Internal Revenue Service executive, was working for the Broadway Market as an independent contractor and not a full-time City of Buffalo employee. Kerr is credited with cleaning up the Broadway Market\u2019s finances, mainly through rent collections from tenants.<\/p>\n

According to the city posting, the job pays $55,000 with benefits and $65,000 without benefits.<\/p>\n

Interested applicants are expected to offer a plan for beefing up customers and tenants at the market, including creating new events and festivals.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Though the position is being posted, that doesn\u2019t necessarily mean Tom Kerr the current manger is on the outs.<\/p>\n

We have received a number of inquiries about the Market Manager position. The position has been reposted as Tom Kerr had a one year contract with BERC and BERC is being dissolved and Tom\u2019s contract has expired. Although Tom has expressed interest in this posting to ensure that pending programs and future improvements\u2026can continue, by law, the City must go through the entire contracting process again.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

I hate when news orgs don\u2019t do their due diligence with a story because it paints an entirely different picture than what the reality is and is irresponsible.<\/p>\n
