Sadly, he\u2019s been gone since 1979 (one month before the last train left the terminal), and there\u2019s not a day that goes by\u00a0that I don\u2019t think of him and miss him. As a quiet and shy kid himself, my Dad inherently understood me and was my best friend growing up. I\u2019m very lucky to have parents who loved me, supported me and always made me believe that I could do anything, if I put my mind to it.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=Helvetica size=2>As you may have read, my parents met at the Central Terminal. My Dad was just back from service in WW II and ended up working in the same department as my Mom. She used all\u00a0her feminine wiles and they were married 5 months later. My Mom worked there for 9 years and my Dad for 10 years. My Mom has some vague memories of the place, but my Dad would have remembered it all, down to the last detail, as he always did. When you\u2019re just a young girl in your early\u00a020\u2019s, details about work\u00a0are just\u00a0ordinary, every day\u00a0things you don\u2019t want to tuck away in your memory. For that and for so many more reasons, I wish he was still here to talk to!<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font face=Helvetica size=2>Any way, in no small way, my work at the terminal is my homage to my father and to my mother. Dad, I hope you can see that from up there and I hope that you\u2019re pleased.
