For the nineteenth year, Broadway Fillmore Alive (BFA)<\/strong> will host its self\u2011guided Holy Thursday pilgrimage through some of Buffalo\u2019s most historic church neighborhoods\u2014Downtown, the First Ward, Ellicott, Broadway\u2011Fillmore\/Polonia, Sloan, Lovejoy, and Kaisertown. The tradition returns on Holy Thursday, April <\/strong>02<\/strong>, 202<\/strong>6<\/strong>, inviting participants to take part in the longstanding custom of visiting seven churches to pray before the Blessed Sacrament, in remembrance of the night of the Last Supper.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s pilgrimage route features a remarkable lineup of sacred sites: St. Anthony of Padua<\/strong>, Our Lady of Perpetual Help<\/strong>, Ss. Columba\u2011Brigid<\/strong>, St. Stanislaus<\/strong>, Corpus Christi<\/strong>, St. Adalbert Basilica<\/strong>, St. Luke\u2019s Mission of Mercy<\/strong>, St. Andrew<\/strong>, St. Katherine Drexel<\/strong>, St. John Gualbert<\/strong>, and St. Casimir<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Visitation begins following the Mass of the Lord\u2019s Supper, with most churches remaining open late into the evening to welcome pilgrims.<\/p>\n

The Lenten season in the Roman Catholic calendar is perfect for quiet reflection and heartfelt prayer, allowing you to connect deeply with your spirituality and the traditions that have shaped these communities. The cherished practice of visiting seven churches provides an extraordinary opportunity to experience the warmth and purpose of Buffalo\u2019s most beloved sanctuaries, each a unique gem revealing the city\u2019s rich heritage.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

BFA understands that many more churches in the Buffalo Diocese participate in the visitation, but our focus has always been on the East Side and adjacent areas.<\/p>\n
