There will be a special mass at St. Adalbert Basilica on Saturday, April 22 at 5:30pm for their annual celebration in honor of the church’s patron, St. Adalbert. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The celebrant of the Mass will be Fr. Bob Stolinski, and featured musicians include Gregory Docenko (violin) and Donna Docenko (flute). <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This will be a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the church’s heritage through music and worship St. Adalbert Basilica! <\/p>\n\n\n\n

St. Adalbert Basilica is located at 212 Stanislaus St. in the heart of Buffalo’s Broadway-Fillmore neighborhood.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Saint Adalbert Basilica is a historic Roman Catholic church located on Buffalo, New York’s East Side within the Diocese of Buffalo. It is a prime example of the Polish Cathedral style of church architecture in both its opulence and grand scale. A rare and special designation bestowed on the parish occurred in 1907, when the Vatican proclaimed St. Adalbert a basilica, the first in the USA. The proclamation, as well as its English translation, can be viewed to this day in the basilica’s museum room.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The parish of Saint Adalbert was founded in 1886 by Polish immigrants who had come to Buffalo in search of work. The first church building was a small wooden structure that was built on the corner of Sycamore and Swan streets. The parish grew rapidly, and in 1890, the cornerstone for a new, larger church was laid. The new church, which was designed by architect Edward Brodhead Green, was dedicated in 1891.<\/p>\n\n\n
