Beginning May 21, 2018, Polish artist\u00a0Wojciech Kolacz, also know as Otecki, will be working on a mural at 617 Fillmore Avenue. The mural is part of the Albright-Knox Art Gallery\u2019s ongoing Public Art Mural projects. Another mural through the program called the \u201cWelcome Wall<\/a>\u201d was installed last near the intersection of Broadway and Fillmore in 2017.<\/p>\n

617 Fillmore<\/a> is the location of the former Polish Co-Op Savings & Loan and the Polish Army Veterans Assn. Post No. 1. The building is now owned privately.<\/p>\n

Wojciech Ko\u0142acz, a.k.a. Otecki (Polish, born 1984), is an illustrator, printmaker, painter, and mural artist working in Wroc\u0142aw, Poland. Otecki finds influence in Cubism, non-Western art, and Slavonic folklore. He is fond of presenting dualistic worlds and characters; especially human-animal combinations that are \u201cpart majesty and part mystery,\u201d as the artist puts it.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The public is encouraged to come out and view the mural being created. The project should take about a week to complete.<\/p>\n
