(By Brian Meyer – NEWS STAFF REPORTER) Mayor Byron W. Brown called for the executive director of the Broadway Market to be replaced and for changes to be made to the board of the struggling East Side landmark.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel changes are needed on the board and a new executive director,\u201d Brown said in a statement released Thursday afternoon. This marks the second time the mayor called for a management upheaval at the market.<\/p>\n

\u201cNow is the time to begin discussions in haste about the future management and operations to protect and strengthen the future of the market,\u201d Brown\u2019s statement continued.<\/p>\n

Brown said he wants to replace the market\u2019s director, Richard M. Fronczak, before the end of his contract term in June 2009. Fronczak could not be reached to comment late Thursday.<\/p>\n
