(Washington, D.C.)<\/em> Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton strongly urged the Advisory Council on Historic Preservation to give full consideration to the Broadway Fillmore Neighborhood\u2019s application to become a Preserve America community. In a letter to Ronald Anzalone, Director of the Office of Preservation Initiatives, Preserve America Communities, Advisory Council on Historic Preservation, Senator Clinton voiced her support for the neighborhood which is located on the East Side of Buffalo. Clinton stated that naming the Broadway Fillmore Neighborhood as a Preserve America community would help maintain the rich culture, architectural history and diversity of an area that helped make Buffalo one of the nation\u2019s leading industrial centers in the nineteenth century, and defined the City\u2019s proud Eastern European immigrant tradition and strong Polish identity.<\/p>\n \u201cThe Broadway Fillmore Neighborhood has played a pivotal role in the history and culture of the City of Buffalo ,\u201d said Senator Clinton. \u201cSince the 1880s the neighborhood has helped to define Buffalo \u2018s national identity and cultural heritage, and it is home to renowned and historic architecture. Naming the Broadway Fillmore Neighborhood as a Preserve America community would help preserve a piece of Buffalo \u2018s culture and tradition for future generations of Americans.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cBuffalo is a repository of some of the world\u2019s leading architecture, and is fully deserving of this important designation,\u201d said Councilmember David A.
