Late yesterday I clicked into a photo posted on the Central Terminal\u2019s Facebook page by\u00a0Ray Kasprzyk, It\u2019s a photo of a picture his five-year-old nephew drew of the building. The first thought to pop into me head was this, \u201cThis is why the Terminal is important.\u201d<\/p>\n
Since 1929, the Central Terminal has stood tall and proud in the heart of the Broadway-Fillmore neighborhood. This massive structure is the biggest building in Buffalo outside of downtown. We all know the history. The Terminal fell on hard times in the latter part of the 20th century. The building was stripped of a lot of its Art Deco decor inside. And it was eventually purchased by the Central Terminal Restoration Corporation (CTRC) in the late 1990s. The CTRC has done a remarkable job as caretakers of building. They have done a lot of work cleaning it up, protecting it, and opening the place back up to the public.<\/p>\n
And though the Terminal isn\u2019t in perfect shape, it\u00a0continues to inspire. Proof positive is this five-year-old\u2019s picture of the building. What the Central Terminal has done for generations is capture the imagination of those who seen it and felt it inside of themselves. That is why it is important. That is why it is important that everything must been done to continue the efforts to restore this Buffalo treasure back to it original greatness. The building is that important.<\/p>\n
