Two neighborhood organizations are going to get a big lift from the Buffalo Billion. This great news for the area and will be a big boost in moving Broadway-Fillmore forward.<\/p>\n

From The Buffalo News<\/a>:<\/p>\n

\u201cThis key part of the Buffalo Billion is aimed at revitalizing neighborhoods and businesses, and with today\u2019s announcement, more main streets and more neighborhoods will have the resources they need to help take part in this region\u2019s transformation,\u201d Governor Andrew M. Cuomo said in a statement. \u201cWe remain committed to investing in Buffalo and continuing the momentum that is moving Western New York forward.\u201d<\/p>\n

Officials also stressed the importance of bringing state dollars to bear in neighborhoods and communities that have been neglected historically to demonstrate that the revival of Buffalo is to benefit everyone, rather than just a handful of businesses or developers.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Here are the grants awarded today:<\/p>\n

Broadway Fillmore \u2013 BBF Main Street Initiative<\/strong>\u00a0$300,000 grant<\/em>
\nApplicant: Broadway-Fillmore Neighborhood Housing Services, Inc.
\nProject Address: Broadway-Fillmore intersection, Buffalo
\nBroadway-Fillmore Neighborhood Housing Services, in partnership with the Fillmore Corridor Neighborhood Coalition, will implement a neighborhood- based Main St. program adjacent to the Broadway Market. The program will target existing commercial business owners, property owners looking for facade improvement assistance, and new businesses looking to locate in the neighborhood.<\/p>\n

Theater Renovation and Expansion with Outdoor Stage<\/strong>\u00a0$175,000 grant<\/em>
\nApplicant: Torn Space Theater
\nProject Address: 608 & 612 Fillmore Avenue
\nThis project includes fa\u00e7ade and interior renovation of the existing theater and adaptive reuse of the adjacent cement block building into a workshop, video sound lab and office finished with stainless steel panels, making it a unique signature building. Adjacent abandoned lots will be transformed into an outdoor stage for community use.<\/p>\n
