The news was upsetting and I couldn\u2019t believe he was leaving. On the day of his last Mass, I had the opportunity to say good-bye and speak to the priest for a bit. Near the end of our conversation he gave me some words of wisdom that have stuck with me through the years. It went something like this. <strong><span style=\"color: #800000;\"><em>That this church and\u00a0parish wasn\u2019t about him. He pointed at me and said that this parish is about you and the people who are part of it. We were the ones who made make it work.<\/em><\/span><\/strong> His words sunk in immediately because you know what, he was right.<\/p>\n<p>I know there a lot of people who are upset with the changes at Saint Stan\u2019s and with Father Ted Bocianowski leaving. But when Father Ted is gone, Saint Stan\u2019s remains and is still going to need the people who love and support to continue to do so. Anything\u00a0less is unacceptable. In the end, the church is about all of us. We can all help ensure that Saint Stan\u2019s remains a strong vibrant parish for Polonia and Buffalo\u2019s east side.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A few years ago, a much loved pastor at a church I was attending was transferred to a new parish.
