{"id":15646,"date":"2014-11-28T01:09:55","date_gmt":"2014-11-28T06:09:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/broadwayfillmorealive.org\/2.0\/?p=15646"},"modified":"2014-11-28T01:09:55","modified_gmt":"2014-11-28T06:09:55","slug":"buffalo-news-response-to-love-prepares-30th-annual-thanksgiving-dinner-for-needy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/broadwayfillmorealive.org\/2.0\/2014\/11\/buffalo-news-response-to-love-prepares-30th-annual-thanksgiving-dinner-for-needy\/","title":{"rendered":"Buffalo News: Response to Love prepares 30th annual Thanksgiving dinner for needy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>(By Mark Sommer | News Staff Reporter) Dozens of people began eating shortly after the doors of St. Adalbert Church, in the Broadway-Fillmore neighborhood, opened at 10 a.m.<\/p>\n<p>The occasion was the Response to Love\u2019s 30th annual Thanksgiving meal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere will be 200 to 300 people eating here, and it\u2019s a gift for us because we really want to be available for people,\u201d said Sister Mary Johnice, a Felician nun who was beaming while cradling 1-month-old Demaryius in her arms as the baby\u2019s mother ate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are people from the suburbs, and people from the city who all wanted to be here,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s a joyful, joyful day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The food was dished up by 10 volunteers, assembly-line style. \u201cAnd it\u2019s served with l-o-v-e,\u201d said meterologist Kevin O\u2019Connell, standing in the middle of the group.<\/p>\n<p>A second serving area was set up for children and people wanting seconds, while Skittles the Clown entertained kids at the other end of the room.
