Yesterday before mass wrapped up at Corpus Christi, Father Anzelm Chalupka said he had an announcement\u2026what he announced hit me like a ton of bricks.\u00a0 I knew it was coming sooner or later and had been in the works for quite some time, but it was still a shock nonetheless.<\/p>\n

Saint Adalbert\u2019s Basilica<\/a> is going to close and merge with Saint John Kanty\u2019s.<\/p>\n

What was even more odd was that there was no mention in any of the this in the local media outlets\u2026when I came home from church, I looked all over the web and in the paper and didn\u2019t find one thing about it\u2026even today\u2026considering how the other church closings throughout the diocese have made the news prominently, I was surprised.<\/p>\n

Under the plan, the Kanty\u2019s-Adalbert\u2019s merger will be examined in two years with the idea being if the merger isn\u2019t going well, Kanty\u2019s will merge then with St. Stan\u2019s.<\/p>\n

I will try to get more info later.\u00a0 I do know that Precious Blood is closing as well and merging with Saint Stephen\u2019s on Elk Street.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
