symbolic of the Broadway Market at Easter than the butter lamb. \u00a0The person responsible for making the butter lamb a Western New York staple for Easter is\u00a0Dorothy Malczewski. \u00a0Sadly, this icon of the Broadway Market passed away over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.legacy.com\/obituaries\/buffalonews\/obituary.aspx?n=dorothy-malczewski-gondek&pid=164530775&fhid=5267#fbLoggedOut\" target=\"_blank\">Here is a link to obituary in the Buffalo News<\/a>\u2014><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/wnymedia.net\/help-a-girl-get-a-job-day-14-2\/\" target=\"_blank\">This is from a article local writer Christina Abt wrote about the <em>Butter Lamb Lady\u00a0<\/em>in 2012<\/a>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The Broadway Market is founded on heritage and food traditions, and one of those\u00a0most integral to\u00a0those traditions is\u00a0Dorothy Gondek Malczewski,\u00a0<em>The Butter Lamb Lady<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>For those unfamiliar, Dorothy started making butter lambs in her home in\u00a0the early 1970\u2032s.\u00a0 She remembered her mother manufacturing the Easter treats using\u00a0a simple wooden mold that her father brought with him when he imigrated from Poland.\u00a0 Her memory of those\u00a0specially shaped butters inspired Dorothy to\u00a0start producing\u00a0and selling them at\u00a0her meat stand at the Broadway Market.\u00a0 Today, Dorothy\u2019s butter lambs have become an Easter tradition for WNY\u2019ers and\u00a0for
