{"id":1112,"date":"2007-10-11T16:20:48","date_gmt":"2007-10-11T20:20:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/broadwayfillmorealive.org\/2.0\/2007\/10\/11\/work-on-transfiguration-church-begins\/"},"modified":"2007-10-11T16:22:58","modified_gmt":"2007-10-11T20:22:58","slug":"work-on-transfiguration-church-begins","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/broadwayfillmorealive.org\/2.0\/2007\/10\/work-on-transfiguration-church-begins\/","title":{"rendered":"Work on Transfiguration Church begins"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/broadwayfillmorealive.org\/2.0\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/10\/trans-big.jpg\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/broadwayfillmorealive.org\/2.0\/wp-content\/uploads\/2007\/10\/trans-sm.jpg?w=640\" alt=\"trans-sm.jpg\" \/><\/a><br \/>\n<em>(click on image for full view)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>About ten people forwarded me a link to a story in today&#8217;s Buffalo News about work beginning on Transfiguration Church to shore up the structure.\u00a0 Anyone who has followed the saga of this building can&#8217;t help but to be a bit skeptical of the owners, but after 14 years of basically sitting dormant, could this be a turning point&#8230;we can only hope.<\/p>\n<p>From <a href=\"http:\/\/www.buffalonews.com\/cityregion\/buffaloerie\/story\/181810.html\">the article<\/a>&#8230;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Attorney William Trezevant of the nonprofit Francis Associates, which purchased the church at 929 Sycamore St. from the Diocese of Buffalo for $7,000, praised Senior Deputy Corporation Counsel David Rodriguez for helping him navigate the permit process to get the long-stalled project moving.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAnd it only took 14 years,\u201d Trezevant quipped, thanking Rodriguez for getting the city to lift a long-standing Housing Court arrest warrant for his mother, Paula Nowak. Trezevant and Nowak, both of Washington, D.C., operate the nonprofit, which they envision as a community center.<\/p>\n<p>Trezevant said he expects the roof repair and other stabilization work to be completed in a few weeks.
