VIDEO WIVB: Saint Adalbert Church movement under attack by thieves

Last week, a number of Saint Adalbert Basilica’s “What Would Jesus Do Bishop Kmiec” lawn signs started disappearing from around the neighborhood and other places where they were placed. The six foot banner on the front of the basilica was also mysteriously removed from the church. The banner’s removal would actually require a ladder to take down.

In the banner’s absence, one of the lawn signs has replaced it.  One can only imagine who would want to have the signs and banner disappear.

The part of the new story above that really hits home is from Saint Adalbert’s parishioner Sophie Osika.

She said, “We have to preserve this for our children. I’ve got 13 grand kids and i just want them to have something that I grew up with. Something that stands for something.”

Saint Adalbert Basilica is living history.  It is a place connecting our present with our past.  Setting the basilica on a path for closure shouldn’t be an option.
