Video: May Crowning @ Saint Adalbert Basilica – 05/15/2011

Well…Mudder Nature was in full rainy swing yesterday.

After a procession to their Mary grotto was planned, Saint Adalbert Basilica paid homage to Mary inside of the church yesterday.

It was still a wonderful Mass and tribute to Mary.

The basilica and its parishioners keep motoring onward while waiting for clarification on its status from the Vatican.

Alive!

On Saturday, May 15, friends and parishioners of Saint Adalbert Basilica held their May Crowning after the 4 pm mass.

It was a beautiful mass and experience…I was glad I was able to participate.

The crowning took place outside after a procession  to the Grotto of the Immaculate Conception adjacent to the Basilica.

The grotto, constructed in 1901, is a close replica of the one in Lourdes, France.  It features statues of Saint Bernadette and Our Lady of Lourdes and depicts the apparition of Mary to Saint Bernadette.

Parishioners placed intentions in the grotto along with a stone.  Both are practices seen in other parts of the world at religious sites.  Leaving a stone marks an individuals presence.

If you have never been to Saint Adalbert Basilica, the grotto is beautiful…stop by, say a prayer and leave a stone.

St. Adalbert Basilica to celebrate May Crowning

St. Adalbert Basilica will host its parish May Crowning on Saturday, May 15th.

After 4 P.M. Mass, this year’s First Communion class will lead the procession to the Grotto of the Immaculate Conception adjacent to the Basilica for the crowning.

Constructed around 1901, the grotto is a close replica of the one in Lourdes, France, even containing similar rocks.

All are welcome as St. Adalbert’s honors the mother of Jesus with song and prayer.

May Crowning @ Corpus Christi – 05/03/09

Mary is the perfect follower of Christ. The maid of Nazareth consented to God’s plan; she journeyed on the pilgrimage of faith; she listened to God’s Word and kept it in her heart; she remained steadfastly in close union with her Son, all the way to the foot of the Cross; she persevered in prayer with the Church. Thus, in an eminent way she won the “crown of righteousness” (II Tim 4:8), the “crown of life” (Jas 1:12; Rev 2:10), the “crown of glory” (I Pet 5:4) that is promised to those who follow Christ.
