CORPUS CHRISTI TO OBSERVE MAY CROWNING

Tradition Reflects Centuries-Old Marian Devotion in the Catholic Faith

Buffalo, New York – As part of its May devotions to the Blessed Mother, and as a cherished Polish tradition, Corpus Christi will host a May Crowning on Sunday, May 6 at 11:00a.m. (following the 10:00a.m. Polish Mass).

This observance will be held outside the church, located at 199 Clark St. in Buffalo, with the crowning of a statue of Our Blessed Mother. An English-speaking Mass will be held immediately afterward. Light refreshments will be served following the ceremony.
The public is cordially invited to attend this event, which will be held rain or shine.

We’ll be open on Thursday, May 3 for our annual celebration of Polish Constitution Day ! Doors open at 7 p.m.

There are many celebrations around the world on this day. In Chicago there is a parade and many parties, in Poland, it’s a State Holiday.

The Matt Urban Center is Holding a Housing Fair

The Matt Urban Center is holding a HOUSING FAIR on May 3, 2012 10:30am to 12:00pm at the Autumnwood Center, 1800 Clinton, Buffalo, NY 14206.

Participants include: Matt Urban Center’s Housing, Weatherization, Senior, and Crime Victims Departments and the Matt Urban Hope Center, along with representatives from State Senator Kennedy’s office, Erie County Health Department, M&T Bank, and Zenner & Ritter. Learn more about programs offered to help you purchase a home or to keep your existing home safe and healthy! Coffee, donuts, and door prizes!!!!

Inaugural May Day Mass @ Saint Stanislaus, 05/06

All are welcome to join St. Stanislaus Parish/Shrine of the Blessed John Paul II, Polish American Congress of WNY, the Polish Veterans (SPK), Msgr. Adamski Polish Saturday School and all Polonia to our First Annual May Day – Majowka, on Sunday, May 6th, 2012 at 12:00 Noon Mass.

This will be a celebration of the 1st anniversary of the Beatification of John Paul II (05/01), Polish Flag Day (05/02), Mary, Queen of Poland, Polish Constitution Day, and Veteran’s Day (05/03).

Artistic program presented by SPK and Polish Saturday School to follow in the Social Center. Admission is free and Dinner (prepared by Polish Saturday School) will be available for purchase; Adults – $10, Children – $5.

Basics of Gardening Class at the Broadway Market

The Master Gardeners of Cornell University’s Cooperative Extension will be offering up a course in the basics of gardening at the Broadway Market (in the old Key Bank) this Saturday, April 28th from 9 A.M. – 12 P.M.

This class is free and open to the public, so bring a pal and get a head start on planning your garden this year with advice from the experts!

There will be something for everyone!

Portraits of our Buffalo ancestors will be presented by costumed actors, featuring students from Hilbert College’s African American Studies program.

Stories of German immigrants and their struggles and challenges to carve out a new life in America, and a presentation honoring the life of Buffalo’s Johnetta Cole, African American Navy Nurse during the Vietnam War, recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, will also be offered.

Free pot luck lunch featuring ethnic foods and a gift basket auction follows. Free and open to the public.
