From WGRZ.com:
“There’s a new push to designate a portion of the East Side’s Broadway-Fillmore neighborhood as a Certified Local Historic District.
The idea is to help safeguard the community’s historic infrastructure, which many feel is being gentrified.
There was a public hearing Tuesday night regarding the matter, where residents were very vocal about the issue on both sides.”

Preserve what? What was once the pearl portion of Buffalo is in ashes-literally. Burned down-tagged structures, barren lots of land that once were thriving/occupied businesses & residences There’s no infrastructure, no tax base. There was a time a family could stroll freely in that neighborhood-without fear, to a neighborhood bar or restaurant. We as kids could leave The Lincoln or Rivoli theater, @ night & go to Rore’s for a red hot, Dairy Bar on Memorial for a float, Cisco’s for a hamburger, Avenue or Norms for a sub or pizza. Take an evening stroll there now. First question: to go-where?? secondly, it’s not a matter of blocks how far you’d get, but a matter of steps. It’s a sad testimonial or certain; what Buffalo’s east once was-is no longer.
