$215,000 of Grant Funding Available to Non-Profits from the Junior League of Buffalo and The Buffalo News Decorators’ Show House

The Junior League of Buffalo, in partnership with The Buffalo News, are seeking proposals for the 2017 Decorators’ Show House Proceeds. Qualified 501(c)(3) not-for-profit agencies in Buffalo and Western New York are encouraged to apply. Only one agency will be selected through a competitive process and awarded $215,000. The recipient will be announced in April 2018.

The August Feine House, located at 766 Ellicott Street in the heart of the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, was the site of the 19th Decorators’ Show House. Over 45 of Western New York’s finest decorators and landscapers combined their talents to transform this historic home, into the newest component of the Kevin Guest House (KGH) Campus, renamed the Russell J. Salvatore Hospitality House, hosting patients and families traveling to Buffalo for medical care. The residence was staffed by the Junior League of Buffalo, as well as other community volunteers.

Since 1981, the Junior League of Buffalo has proudly collaborated with The Buffalo News in presenting its largest fundraiser, the Decorators’ Show House. The biennial event has raised more than $4 million to date. A few of the previous Show House proceeds recipients include Gerard Place, the Darwin Martin House, Jericho Road Ministries, Massachusetts Avenue Project, and Torn Space Theatre.

A preliminary application is required and must be delivered to the Junior League of Buffalo headquarters by noon on December 6, 2017. Final proposals will be sought from invited applicants only, and will be due in January 2018. Agencies must complete the preliminary application to be eligible for funding. The preliminary application and additional details are available on the Junior League of Buffalo’s website, www.jlbuffalo.org.
