This is really great news for the Broadway-Fillmore business district and the neighborhood. On Friday, October 21, 2016, a long-time supporter, acting on behalf of Jericho Road Community Health Center, acquired a 110,618-square-foot, four-story building at 1021 Broadway, the former site of the Jahraus-Braun Department Store. With this acquisition, Jericho Road will move forward with plans to renovate the building and expand its footprint on the East Side of Buffalo, alongside its 1609 Genesee Street clinic, which has been open since 2009.
Jericho Road Community Health Center delivers culturally sensitive medical services to low-income individuals across Buffalo, N.Y. through its West Side (Barton St.) and East Side (Genesee St.) clinics. Jericho Road also provides programming like the Polly Project, a mentoring program for single, pregnant mothers who are pursuing an educational goal. With the development of the new site at 1021 Broadway, Jericho Road Community Health Center will maintain its existing 1609 Genesee Street clinic, in addition to its current East Side programming, including the Polly Project and the Parent Child Home Program. The nonprofit also plans to strengthen existing relationships on the East Side, as well as forge new links with local stakeholders and partners in an effort to assess the needs of the community. From there the organization will develop targeted collaborative programming aimed at meeting the needs expressed by East Side residents and leaders.

Scruggs Community Health Center, Bailey Family Health Center, Eggertsville Family Health Center, Love Joy Primary Care Center, Jesse Nash Center, and Sheehan Memorial Primary Care and Hospital,” says Magdalena Nichols, Chief Development Officer at Jericho Road. “We are grateful for our community partners, including Fillmore Forward, who helped us engage the community to start a conversation around the medical needs of this area.”
