Come Sketch on the Broadway Market Roof with Urban Sketchers of Buffalo

Urban Sketchers Buffalo is a group of artists of all disciplines and experience levels, making art on location throughout historic and beautiful Buffalo, New York.

The Broadway Market sits at the heart of Historic Polonia on Buffalo’s east side, and plays host to a number of year-round food and local vendors (which you should check out!). Situated on Broadway at Lombard Street, it is surrounded by historic architecture including that of the notable Wladyslaw Zawadzki – who designed elegant public and private architecture both in this neighborhood, and the satellite Polish settlement in Black Rock. Views from the roof of the Market are 360 degrees- with numerous church spires, the Central Terminal, and other sights, as shown in Chris Byrd’s recent post on his fantastic blog, Broadway Fillmore Alive: http://broadwayfillmorealive.org/2.0/2016/05/photos-a-roof-with-a-view/

The rooftop veggie garden is beautiful, and still yielding food- and will provide some shade for attendees, but sunscreen and a cold bottle of water are highly recommended! You can get to the roof by driving up into the parking garage, or take the stairs on the LOMBARD Street side, near “Strawberry Island”.

Artist, historian and preservation activist Dana Saylor founded this group and will be present to chat with attendees and fellow artists.

Bring any art supplies that you’re inspired by, draw or paint, then snap up some produce, crafts, lunch and dessert inside the Market!

Saturday, August 20 at 9:30 AM – 12:30 PM
