For years I have participated in the annual Holy Thursday Pilgrimage to seven churches. As a Catholic I find it one of the deepest spiritual experiences I have ever known: the feeling of accompanying Jesus on his horrific night in the Garden of Gethsemane, praying alongside him for all the pain in our world. However, even non-Christians can appreciate the beauty of this night. On several occasions I’ve been accompanied by an atheist friend who is always amazed at the beauty of the churches and the sense of communion among all of the pilgrims who share in this experience together.
