From the Central Terminal’s Facebook page:

Introducing Beverly and Roosevelt (the one on the right with the plump thigh). Both Peregrine Falcon eyases (chicks) were born on the Terminal tower and were banded by the NY DEC less than a week ago. Two other eggs were not viable and did not hatch.

The DEC bands and tags the legs with colored tape to help those dedicated to peregrine conservation track the fledglings as they take flight for the first time.

Tape colors for each peregrine:

Roosevelt – blue
Beverly- yellow

Peregrine Falcons are a protected raptor in NYS given the designation of “endangered species”.

The eyases will start the fledgling process within the next week or so.

Incredible!
