On October 14, 1962, President John F. Kennedy participated in the neighborhood’s annual Pulaski Day Parade. Over 200000 people lined Broadway as the President Kennedy made his way through East Buffalo’s Historic Polonia on his way downtown for a speech on the steps of Buffalo’s city hall. It was truly a monumental day in the history of the neighborhood.

Broadway Fillmore Alive friend Bill Blake shared a copy of a page from 10/15/1962 edition of the Courier-Express. Thanks Bill! This is really great to look at and read.

  1. Makes me feel old, but I was at that parade. I was very excited to see President Kennedy and the crowds on the streets. Quite a change from the Buffalo of today.
