Citybration: Historic Polonia Rising

In Buffalo, we know it’s spring when butter lambs begin grazing on dining room tables and you can’t find a parking place at either the Broadway Market or the Botanical Gardens. There’s more than a week of festivities coming up!

The epicenter of all things involving eggs and pussywillows is Historic Polonia. Broadway Fillmore Alive has been the voice of this beleaguered neighborhood since 2006 powered by the tireless community activist Chris Byrd. BFA has promoted all things Polonia, especially the Broadway Market, and has supported the preservation historic churches like Corpus Christi, St. Stanislaus and Saint John Kanty/Saint Adalbert Basilica, long before it was cool to do so. A recent “crowdfunding shirtraiser” generated nearly $10,000, enough to contribute more than $3,000 to each of these three churches. “Mass Mobs” are generating interest in these houses of worship and others across the city.
