Video: Old Urban Funeral Home at 188 Clark Street Demolished Last Night

One of the owners of the new Bison Distillery on Lombard Street shot a quick video last night of the old Urban Funeral Home at 188 Clark Street being demolished at night.

It is weird that this would happen in the dark…but hey, it’s the east side…nothing I see or hear about really surprises me anymore.

The building demolition is to make way for expanded green/garden space across from Corpus Christi Church. The church owns all the lots on the west side of Clark Street from its Kolbe Center north to the corner of Kent Street. The demolition was paid for by the church.

It is always sad to see another neighborhood building disappear.

For a history of the building, view the Preservation Ready Sites’ entry on 188 Clark Street.
