This is such a great photo and capture what a center of activity Saint John Kanty’s Lyceum was through much of the 20th century in East Buffalo’s Historic Polonia. You name it and the lyceum held the event…everything from dances through plays through concerts, etc.

The space remains pretty much intact, but it sits waiting for reuse.

  1. My great uncle Patsy Ziengierski, used to own and operate Singers Gym in Buffalo. WAY back in the 30s, – 50s….. I wonder if he had anything to do with these matches. The only one remaining alive is a distant aunt – his dauggter – who would be 92 today. Also a distant great nephew. Anyone at all know who may have sponsored or organized these fights?

My great uncle used to live on Koons I believe.
