Veterans Career Center opens at Response to Love Center

(By WGRZ) A new veterans career center on Buffalo’s East Side is helping connect those who served with job opportunities.

The Veterans Career Center is the brain child of Debbera Ransom, who wants to cut down on the high unemployment among veterans by providing training in resume writing, interviewing skills and employer research. The center is located in the Response to Love Center on Kosciuszko Street.

“This particular site was excellent to have the career center here because they have so many other services, so it’s almost like a true one stop situation,” Ransom said.

Ransom, who is the founding commander of AMVETS Post 24, says the center will be staffed by veterans and is child-friendly.
“They’re going to be recognized and excepted for what they have done, the sacrifice they’ve given.

The veterans will come here to learn transition from the military to the civilian life. We’re going to look for job placement for them, and I know all of this sounds idealistic, but it’s reality and we have to make it happen,” said Sister Mary Johnice, who runs the Response to Love center.
