(By Scott Scanlon – Buffalo News) Gabe and Marcie Fischer have the Broadway Market to thank for much of what went onto their dinner table during the last several months.
The Sloan couple, both 35, live near the city line, and are among several dozen Western New Yorkers who tend to raised-bed gardens on the parking ramp upper level at the East Side market. They share some of their bounty with Daria Parker, manager of Lewandowski Produce, for sale in the market, and take a sizable stash home.
“We ate out of the garden all summer,” Marcie Fischer said.
Her husband, an information technology specialist, talked about the impact of their 5-year-old gardening habit.
