CORPUS CHRISTI CHURCH INVITES PUBLIC TO BECOME PART OF ITS HISTORY

Corpus Christi Church invites the Western New York community to become part of its living history on Sunday, September 7th, 2014 when the parish holds an event to write letters that will be included inside of a cross atop its rebuilt north tower cupola. The letter writing will take place after the 8:15, 10:00 (Polish) and 11:30 Masses at the church.

A similar letter writing event took at place at Corpus Christi in 2011 when messages were written and then placed in the cross of the new south tower cupola. The placement of letters continues a tradition started by founders of the parish who placed their own notes in the original cupola when the church was officially dedicated in 1909.

The restoration of the north tower cupola is part of the ongoing efforts of the Friends of Corpus Christi. Established in 2003, the group oversees preserving the church. The new cupola will be installed and additional repairs to the north tower will be completed before the end of the 2014 construction season.

There will be coffee and light refreshments available after Mass each in the church’s Kolbe Center. More information about the ongoing preservation efforts of the church and the letter writing event can be found at www.CorpusChristiBuffalo.org.

Established in 1898, Corpus Christi Church is located at 199 Clark Street and continues to serve East Buffalo’s Historic Polonia.
