The former Kmart building at 998 Broadway has seen many proposals for reuse ever since the retailer left the location in 2002.  None, however, seem to be able to come to fruition.  Just last summer there was a proposal for a partnership with Erie Community College and a local church to use the space as training facility.  Now the building is set to be auctioned on 06/29/2013 through Cash Realty & Auctions.

It would be great to see something happen with the building to help bring more people to Broadway-Fillmore business district on a daily basis.  Aldi has helped filled some of the void with the property, but getting the Kmart building up and running again would be a huge win for the neighborhood.
