Bring a Piece of the Central Terminal Home to Buffalo for the Holidays!

***UPDATE……..WE DID IT!!!***

On 11/13/2012, the Central Terminal Restoration Corporation (CTRC) posted a link on their Facebook page to an antique dealer in Toronto who was selling the light fixture you see in the picture above. Broadway Fillmore Alive then shared the same link on our Facebook page a day or two later. After it was posted, Tony Fracasso (Online Media/SpeakUpWNY.com) commented he would be willing to give $100 towards an effort to purchase the fixture and bring it home. Not too long after that Greg Witul (Local Author/Writer for Am-Pol Eagle) and Karen Siuda McCann (Grew up in the neighborhood and now lives in Austin, TX) posted that they would be interested in helping raise the funds. I emailed all three directly and we decided to kickoff an effort to raise the funds necessary to bring this piece of the Central Terminal back home to Buffalo.

After contacting the owner, they were gracious enough to extend us the same offer they extended the CTRC. The original asking price was $9000, but the dealer will sell it back for use in the Terminal for $3000. We are trying to raise $3100 to cover any additional cost which may occur.

Though the building remains, a lot of its Art Deco interior was sold off or stripped before the CTRC took over the complex.  This fixture was removed from the main concourse of the Terminal.

We want to bring home this piece to the Central Terminal for the holidays!

You can use the http://www.chipin.com box below to donate via credit card or make checks payable and send to Broadway Fillmore Alive – Attn: Chris Byrd – 442 Campus Drive – Buffalo, NY 14226. If additional funds are raised, the money will be given to the Central Terminal.

The dealer has agreed to hold the fixture for 45 days. Our fundraising effort will end on 12/24/2012.

Any amount you can contribute will help the effort. There is a lot of love for the Central Terminal and this is a great way for the community to support the efforts of the CTRC to keep this neighborhood treasure ALIVE!

  1. On behalf of the Buffalo Central Terminal and the Central Terminal Restoration Corp, I thank you all for this effort. We have a great deal of work to do on the structure but it’s having a group of dedicated folks like you working to bring the cherry on top of the sundae home that makes it all worth while!

  5. Glad to chip-in! I am willing to post this on Histpres.com, too. Can you tell me what happened to the originals, where others have been found, how many originals would this make in CRTC’s possession, and plans for it as well as plans to replica those that don’t come home to the Terminal?
