A Facebook page called “Polish Easter Buffalo” serves as an online guide through the rich religious and secular celebrations of Easter as practiced in the Polish community in Buffalo as well as in Poland. With the mobility of the community, some traditions have fallen by the wayside and historic Polish churches have become “out of sight, out of mind.”
With the recent popularity of Dyngus Day in Buffalo, it is sometimes forgotten that the joyous celebration of the Resurrection is the main event, and Dyngus Day the fun after-party. “Without Lent and Easter, there is no Dyngus Day,” someone once said.
