Are the restorers aware that Mazur incorporated the faces of Rev. Pitass, Rev. Fudzinski and others into the Disputa painting? I hope they do not simply replicate the original Vatican painting.
Fritz, thank you for your comment! I’m just curious as to where you discovered that information, not that I doubt it but it would be good to have on record.
Also, whether or not Mazur improved the Disputa is an ongoing debate! Certainly Mazur could have done more to restore and preserve Rzeznik’s work instead of adding his own touch.
But please let us know where you found out about Fr. Pitass’ and Fr. Hyacinth’s faces, and if you know which figures they are on.
The Disputa is simply being restored with minimal changes. The artist has gotten guidance from Henry Swiatek.
I was up on the scaffolding with Mr. Kujawa several times. This is a world class restoration and very inspiring to view “up close and personal”. I wish everyone could see this magnificient painting this closely. It tells a very detailed story of our faith. Mr. Kujawa’s diligence and attention to detail are wonderful. He tries loves his craft and his enthusiasm is contagious.
