Buffalo News: Broadway Market increases rents, drawing call for managers to resign
By Christopher Byrd | August 22, 2008

As Broadway Market officials voted to increase rents and reduce security effective Oct. 1, Buffalo’s Common Council president called on market managers to resign Thursday.
“They’re driving that place into the ground,” claimed David A. Franczyk, whose Fillmore District includes the market.
But directors of the struggling East Side retail facility claimed City Hall has caused the market’s fiscal problems. They pointed to city delays in approving a lease with a new anchor tenant and its failure to commit to help the market with skyrocketing electricity costs.
