Reminder: May Crowning tomorrow at Corpus Christi

By Christopher Byrd | May 3, 2008

crowning.jpgAs part of its May devotions to the Blessed Mother and as a cherished Polish devotion, Corpus Christi will host a May Crowning on Sunday, May 4th. This celebration will begin at 11:00A.M. with an outdoor procession and the crowning of a statue of Mary. Light refreshments will follow the ceremony at the church’s Kolbe Center.

The public is invited to join the members of Corpus Christi parish for this beautiful service. All children throughout the Diocese of Buffalo and those who are receiving First Communion this year are encouraged to take part in this inspirational procession. Formal and/or Polish folk dress is encouraged. Parents are asked to bring flower petals for their child to strew in the procession from the church to the statue of Mary.

The outdoor statue of the Blessed Mother Mary at Corpus Christi Parish was installed last summer and is on the site of two formerly vacant lots across from the church.

Corpus Christi Church is located at 199 Clark Street, just one block east of the Broadway Market.
